Polycarbonate (PC)

OMEGA-GARD ® Polycarbonate (PC) is a high molecular weight, amorphous engineering thermoplastics.

It has a wide useful temperature range retaining its tough characteristics to below -50ºC whilst at the other extreme it displays a very respectable deflection temperature of 137ºC at 1.8 MPa. MEGA-GARD ® Polycarbonates are characterized by an excellent combination of toughness, transparency, heat and flame resistance and dimensional stability. The insulating and other electrical characteristics of OMEGA-GARD ® Polycarbonate is excellent and almost unchanged by temperature and humidity conditions.

• Excellent impact strength (250 x stronger than standard glass on impact, 30 x that of acrylic)

• Self-extinguishing (self-ignition temperature 1070°C)

• It has no self lubricating power and is attacked by oil and grease
• Not resistant to hydrocarbons
• Absorbs moisture and can need drying before forming
